ROBERTO TOSTADO, born in 1980 in Torreon, Coahuila. He began his artistic training in Guadalajara, in 2003 he moved to Aguascalientes where he continued his apprenticeship in the workshop of Moisés Díaz Jiménez, in this city he had his first solo exhibition entitled "Soft dialogues". In 2011, he arrived in Mexico City where he continued his training with teachers Santiago Rebolledo and German Venegas and established his own workshop.

His work has been selected in competitions such as the 1st Biennial of the Americas, the October Hall, the Enrique Guzmán Biennial in Aguascalientes and the Joaquín Clausell Biennial, in which he received an Honorable Mention in 2014. "I started this series of paintings woven from two very similar large format drawings that I had created in different years, when I compared them I could see a connection between them, so I looked for a way to foster a dialogue by creating a third piece from I joined them by means of horizontal and vertical cuts to interweave them, so I decided to pay homage to my favorite artists, adding a fourth work to the concept of the series " - Roberto Tostado. "The Primo according to Velázquez" arises from the famous portrait "El bufón el Primo" or "El bufón don Sebastián de Morra", an oil painting by Diego Velázquez that is currently in the Museo del Prado in Madrid.

ROBERTO TOSTADO nace en Torreón, Coahuila en 1980.
En Guadalajara entra a trabajar al taller de Iñaki Beorlegui en 2002 como asistente de taller, donde empieza a tomar lecciones de dibujo. Se muda a Aguascalientes en 2003 donde entra al taller del Maestro Moisés Diaz Jiménez en la escuela de artes visuales, donde tiene su primera exposición individual “Diálogos Blandos” en 2004. En 2005 hace grabado en Torreón Coahuila con el maestro Miguel Canseco. regresa a Guadalajara el año siguiente para estudiar figura humana con el Maestro José Fors. Los años siguientes vive entre Guadalajara y Aguascalientes. Es seleccionado en 2005 en el concurso nacional de estampa de Guanajuato, en la Primera Bienal de la Américas en 2006, en 2007 en el Salón de Octubre de Guadalajara y Arte club del Periódico Mural y en la bienal Enrique Guzmán de Aguascalientes en 2008.
En 2009 Tiene una exposición individual “¡Apócrifo!” donde expone 20 retratos de gran formato en la Galería de la Ciudad en Aguascalientes. En 2012 empieza a estudiar varias técnicas de pintura con el Maestro Santiago Rebolledo y participa en una pequeña colectiva en la Galería Machado en la Ciudad de México. En 2014 obtiene mención honorífica en la bienal Joaquín Clausell de campeche. En 2017 toma un taller de dibujo con el maestro German Venegas. Actualmente trabaja entre Aguascalientes y la Ciudad de México donde ha tenido 3 exposiciones individuales y diversas colectivas, tanto en la ciudad como el resto del país, sobre todo con un proyecto itinerante de monotipos del taller del maestro Ramon Durán con el que comparte espacio con artistas como Daniel Lezama, Flor Minor, Alberto Castro Leñero, entre otros.
El 13 de diciembre 2019 inaugura la exposición CUL-DE-SAC en el museo de arte contemporáneo de Aguascalientes.
